Euro 2024: 80 German amateur clubs to share €2.3m from UEFA's Climate Fund

80 environmental projects presented by as many German amateur clubs have been selected and will be awarded €2.3m from the Euro 2024 Climate Fund, according to UEFA on 05/03/2024.

2 307 applications from 21 of the Deutscher Fussball Bund's regional associations have been received since the launch of this Climate Fund for amateur clubs in Germany was announced on 08/01/2024. Projects can still be submitted until 30/06/2024. Two further selection rounds will take place between now and then (at the end of April and then the end of June) to distribute a further €2.6m. €2.1m from the same Fund will also be allocated to regional associations to "fund their own climate-protection projects or support their regional clubs" with each association receiving €100,000, for a total envelope of €7m.

At the end of this first phase of the call for applications, the projects submitted by clubs focused on the installation of LED floodlights (1,029 applications), photovoltaic solar panels (572) and domestic batteries (387).
