AJ Auxerre: "We are working on 100% private financing for the stadium extension" (B. Malherbe)

"We are working on 100% private financing for the extension of the Stade Abbé-Deschamps to 20,000 seats (compared with the current 17,997), and we have informed the local authorities of this. This is virtually unique in France. Of course, the local authorities would be involved in the accessibility and environmental aspects of the stadium, because it's not just for AJ Auxerre (Ligue 2 BKT). The development of the stadium would also benefit the entire Auxerrois sports plain, where the Stade Auxerrois omnisports and the AJA omnisports are also located. The IUT (university) and AuxerreExpo (exhibition hall) are also located nearby. This area needs to be developed as a whole," said Baptiste Malherbe, president of the French club, to News Tank Football on 07/03/2024.
