NWSL: CPKC Stadium (Kansas City), the 1^st stadium dedicated to a women's side to open on 16/03/2024

The CPKC Stadium (11,500 capacity), the first stadium dedicated to a women's football franchise in the United States, located in Kansas City (Missouri, USA), will be inaugurated on the occasion of the Kansas City Current - Portland Thorns match (Matchday 1 of the 2024 NWSL), on Saturday 16/03/2024 (kick-off at 12:00 local time). This will be the opening match of the North American Women's Soccer League 2024 season.

The construction of the stadium, carried out by the American companies JE Dunn Construction Group and Monarch Build as well as the architectural firm Generator Studio, was announced by the franchise on 26/10/2021. The total cost of the stadium is $117m (€107m).

CPKC, a Canadian railway company, has acquired the naming rights to Kansas City Current's stadium as part of a ten-year agreement starting in 2024, on 19/10/2023. "In addition to naming rights for CPKC Stadium, the outdoor gathering space at the entrance to the stadium will be called CPKC Plaza," said the North American franchise.
