Under Armour: Kevin Plank, founder of the brand, to become CEO from 01/04/2024

Kevin Plank, founder of Under Armour, will once again become CEO with effect from 01/04/2024, announced the American equipment manufacturer on 13/03/2024. Plank succeeds Stephanie Linnartz, who has held the position since 27/02/2023. She will remain an "advisor" to the company until 30/04/2024.

After founding Under Armour in 1996, Kevin Plank led the brand until 2019, when the 51-year-old American stepped down to become executive chair and "brand chief", while retaining a 65% stake in the company. He was replaced by Patrick Frisk between 2020 and 2022, after an interim period led by Colin Browne, the brand's chief operating officer, and before Stephanie Linnartz (ex-Marriott International) took up her post.

Kevin Plank's return to the helm of Under Armour is accompanied by the appointment of Mohamed A. El-Erian as non-executive chair of the brand. The man who is also president of Queens' College at Cambridge University and an editorial writer for US media outlets Bloomberg and Financial Times had been an independent director on Under Armour's board since 2018 and its lead director…
