Ligue 1 TV rights 2024-2029: "We're prepared to sublicense our Free Ligue 1 app" (T. Reynaud, Iliad)

"Like many football fans, we can't wait to find out who will win the audiovisual rights to Ligue 1 for the 2024-2029 cycle. We are prepared to sublicense our Free Ligue 1 application, which has the largest football audience in France, with more than half a million unique users per matchday," said Thomas Reynaud, CEO of the Iliad group (parent company of French internet service provider and mobile operator Free), to Le Journal du Dimanche on 17/03/2024.

Free currently holds the rights to broadcast highlights of Ligue 1 Uber Eats matches on a near live basis for an estimated annual fee of €42m over the 2020-2024 cycle. The Free Ligue 1 offer is available for €3.99 per month with no commitment (free for Free subscribers) for access to near live content. Goals and match highlights, as well as editorial content produced by the Free Ligue 1 teams, are available free of charge on the website and application.
