Nottingham Forest FC: a 4 point deduction for breaching Premier League financial regulations

Nottingham Forest FC (Premier League) have been docked four points in the 2023-24 English league table with immediate effect for breaching the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), announced the league on 18/03/2024.

The English body launched proceedings against the club on 15/01/2024, finding that, at the end of the 2022-23 season, Nottingham Forest had breached Article E.49 of its regulations, which limits clubs' financial losses over a period of three financial years to £105m (€119.3m), and £61m (€71m) for Nottingham Forest as a result of an abatement due to two seasons spent in the Sky Bet Championship.

The penalty was imposed by an independent commission, which heard the club at the beginning of March 2024, and before which the club promoted to the top flight in 2021-22 admitted that it had exceeded the £61m loss threshold over the relevant period by £34.5m.
