Germany/DFL: expanded agreement with Amazon Web Services (cloud) to develop AI solutions

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud services division of US e-commerce group Amazon, has expanded its partnership with the Deutsche Fußball Liga to become the league's "official generative AI provider" as part of a "multi-year collaboration," announced the league on 20/03/2024.

Under this new agreement, the German League and Amazon will develop projects around three main areas:
• the fan experience (with automated translation, personalisation and geolocation of content);
• media production (using cloud infrastructure to produce content and archive footage);
• data services (automatic detection of events during matches, statistics).

The two partners have been linked since 2020 and as such bring together "their expertise in sports, media, data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence," explained the DFL.
