Paris 2024: 59% of Americans intend to follow the Olympic Games (Morning Consult)

59% of American adults intend to follow the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on television, streaming or on-site, according to a study by the American consultancy Morning Consult published on 18/03/2024.

The study surveyed more than 2,000 "American adults" between 15 and 17/02/2024, i.e. just over five months before the start of the event (on 26/07/2024). This is the same percentage as for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (reprogammed in 2021 and held behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic), when 59% of American adults also declared their intention to follow the Games around six months before the competition (identical survey carried out on 27 and 28/01/2021).

"This means ratings for the Paris Games could match Tokyo's disappointing viewership, even though this summer's games don't face the same hurdles as the last Summer Olympics," said Morning Consult.
