Video games: EA Sports FC 24 remains best-selling in France in 2023 despite name change (from FIFA)

With 1.48 million copies sold in 2023, EA Sports FC 24 from Electronic Arts remains the best-selling video game for the 10^th year running, according to SELL (French Union of Leisure Software Publishers), which reported on the French video game industry in 2023 in "L'Essentiel du jeu vidéo" (Essential Video Games) on 21/03/2024.

The American publisher's game, released on 29/09/2023, changed its name when its partnership with FIFA between 1993 and June 2023 was not renewed. Although it remains the leader in France, the EA Sports brand is still 15.4% down on its predecessor FIFA 2023 (1.75 million sales in 2022) and 7.5% down on FIFA 2022 (1.6 million sales in 2021).

In a year 2023 rich in major releases for the video game sector (Hogwarts Legacy, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, etc.), EA Sports' football video game was the best-selling game in 8 of the 19 European countries surveyed by German market research company GfK Entertainment (results published on 16/01/2024).
