2022 Champions League Final: UEFA to compensate Liverpool fans who raised personal injury claims

UEFA has reached an agreement to compensate Liverpool FC (Premier League) fans "who have raised personal injury claims in respect of their experiences" at the Stade de France on 28/05/2022 during the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid CF (LALIGA EA Sports) and Liverpool FC (1-0), announced the European confederation on 22/03/2024.

The agreement, for which the financial and other terms "will remain confidential", has been reached with the fans who had submitted a claim. This compensation is in addition to UEFA's refund of tickets for fans "who were most affected," announced on 07/03/2023.

"UEFA is pleased to have reached a common position which it is hoped provides closure for the fans. UEFA will be making no further comment in relation to the same," said the body.

This decision comes nearly a year after the publication of the report by the independent review panel into the events surrounding the final, which concluded that "UEFA, as event owner, bears primary responsibility for failures which almost led to disaster".
