Leicester City FC: "urgent legal proceedings" issued against the Premier League & EFL

Leicester City FC (Sky Bet Championship) has been "compelled to issue two urgent legal proceedings against the Premier League and the English Football League," announced the club on 22/03/2024.

"The club is committed to ensure that any charges against it are properly and proportionately determined, in accordance with the applicable rules, by the right bodies, and at the right time," said Leicester City.

The club is challenging its referral to an independent commission, announced the previous day by the Premier League, for an alleged breach of the English League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and for failing to submit its audited accounts for the assessment period up to the end of the 2022-23 season, following which the club was relegated to the Sky Bet Championship. Leicester believes that, as it is no longer playing in the Premier League in 2023-24, it does not fall within the League's regulatory perimeter, which means that it cannot exercise its jurisdiction over the club.
