Italy/FIGC: a near unanimous adoption of a "Strategic Plan for the Football System”

"Analysis of the areas to be emphasised in the near future for the development of Italian football (training centres, training and the social function of football in particular) and the prospect of a multiannual and progressive reform plan aimed at greater control of management and, consequently, of club accounts", is the content of the "Strategic Plan for the Football System" adopted - with just one abstention, that of Mauro Balata, president of Lega Serie B - by the FIGC federal council on 28/03/2024.

"This is an excellent result," said Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian Football Federation. "The federal council is in favour of introducing principles inspired by the economic and financial sustainability of clubs, as called for by the president and discussed in working groups involving all stakeholders," said the FIGC.
