Brazil 2014: FIFA presents legacy projects funded by the $100m inheritance fund

FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) presented the legacy projects to be implemented via the inheritance fund of the 2014 World Cup (Brazil, from 12/06 to 13/07/2014), in the presence of Jerome Valcke, the secretary general of FIFA, José Maria Marin, president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Federation) and Marco Polo del Nero, president-elect of the CBF, during a conference at the Arena of São Paulo (65,800 seats) on 20/012015.

The inheritance fund of the 2014 World Cup is $100m (approximately €89m). "It will mainly benefit football infrastructure in states that have not hosted matches of the World Cup (60%), youth football (15%) and women's football (15%)," stated FIFA on 20/01/2015.

  • A the FIFA Executive Committee meeting in Zurich (Switzerland) on 26/09/2014, it was decided to create the $100m inheritance fund for the 2014 World Cup.
  • A memorandum of understanding for the implementation of the Heritage Fund was signed on 10/11/2014.
