Nottingham Forest FC: safe standing to be installed at City Ground

Nottingham Forest FC (Premier League) is planning "to introduce sections of safe standing within The City Ground, with work set to commence in the summer months in time for the start of the 2024-25 season," announced the club on 16/04/2024.

"Safe standing represents a significant step forward in enhancing the match day experience for fans while ensuring safety remains paramount. The introduction of safe standing areas will provide supporters with the choice to stand during matches, fostering the famous atmosphere and passion of The City Ground support," explained the club.

Standing room had been banned in the UK since 1989 when a law was introduced following the Hillsborough disaster on 15/04/1989, when 96 fans died in a crowd surge during a match between Liverpool FC and Nottingham Forest FC at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield (ENG).
