Spain: High Sports Council meeting on the Pedro Rocha (RFEF) case convened on 25/04/2024

José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, Spain's Secretary of State for Sport and president of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), will convene his executive committee on Thursday 25/04/2024, which has the power to suspend Pedro Rocha from the presidency of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), according to the CSD on 22/04/2024.

Pedro Rocha, interim president of the Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol since 26/08/2023, was charged with "very serious" misconduct in a corruption case on 12/04/2024. Initially heard as a witness, Pedro Rocha, vice-president of the RFEF from 2018 to 2023, was informed of his indictment at the end of his hearing by the judge in charge of the case, according to the Madrid Superior Court of Justice (ESP).

"It is unthinkable that the representative of Spanish football at Euro 2024 or the 2024 Olympic Games could be someone who is the subject of a criminal investigation and suspected of offences considered to be very serious," said José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes.
