EBU: departure of Pascal Fratellia, director of Olympics, after 17 years with the Union

Pascal Fratellia, director of Olympics at the European Broadcasting Union, is stepping down from his position, announced the EBU on 22/04/2024. Fratellia joined the alliance of public service media organisations in 2007 and has held the post since March 2023.

Pascal Fratellia was previously head of football media rights (from April 2007 to November 2021) and then EBU commercial director (from November 2021 to March 2023). "Pascal played a central role in securing several key broadcast rights during his time as head of football, including the FIFA World Cup 2018 and 2022 on behalf of over 35 EBU members. More recently he was part of the negotiating team that secured the Olympic rights for the EBU members from 2026 to 2032," explained the organisation.

The European Broadcasting Union acquired the media rights for 49 territories in Europe (excluding Russia and Belarus) for the Summer and Winter Olympic Games over the 2026-2032 cycle (four editions) on 16/01/2023. The media and entertainment conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery has acquired the same rights for pay-TV broadcasting.
