DNCG: a net loss of €282m for Ligue 1 & Ligue 2 clubs in 2022-23 (€601m in 2021-22)

A net loss of €282m in 2022-23 (compared with a net loss of €601.4m in 2021-22, a positive change of 53%) is one of the key figures for the Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT combined in the DNCG report on the "situation of professional football" in France published by the Ligue de Football Professionnel on 25/04/2024.

With the exception of audiovisual rights, which fell by 1% to €814.6m, French professional clubs' other sources of revenue all rose, in particular "other income including merchandising", which increased by 66% (€812.6m), and "revenue from matches", which rose by 18% to €288.8m.

In total, revenue excluding transfers was €2.66bn, compared with €2.26bn in 2021-22 (+17%). Revenues from transfers, i.e. player transfers, also rose (+64% to €759m).

The combined wage bill of France's 40 professional clubs remains stable, rising from €1.604bn in 2021-22 to €1.617bn in 2022-23 (+1%).
