2023-24 Champions League: head-to-head Bayern Munich - Real Madrid (semi-final, 1^st leg, 30/04/2024)

With a turnover of €843m for the 2022-23 financial year (from 01/07/2022 to 30/06/2023), Real Madrid CF (LALIGA EA Sports), the club from the European Top 5 that generated the most revenue excluding transfers over the period, are slightly ahead of FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) in sixth place (€744m), as the two clubs prepare to meet in the first leg of their 2023-24 Champions League semi-final at the Allianz Arena (Munich, GER) on Tuesday 30/04/2024 (kick-off at 21:00 CET). In 2022-23, the German club's wage bill was €416m, 2% higher than that of their Spanish rivals (€408m).

In terms of the sums paid out by UEFA to the clubs taking part in the 2023-24 Champions League, the Madrid club can already count on €101.5m in guaranteed revenue (excluding market pool), compared with €98.5m for their Munich rivals. This difference can be explained by the gap between the two teams in terms of their UEFA coefficient rankings (€36.4m for the Spanish club, compared with €35.2m for Bayern), as well as by their sporting performance during the group stage (€16.8m for Real Madrid, €14.9m for Bayern)…
