England/Women's football: a record attendance of one million spectators in the top 2 divisions

All 24 clubs in the Barclays Women's Super League and the Barclays Women's Championship (2nd Division) have broken the one million spectator mark for the first time at their stadiums following matches on Sunday 28/04 as part of the 2023-24 season, announced The Football Association, which organises the two competitions, on 29/04/2024.

"Over half of our 24 clubs having achieved their own record league attendance this term," added The FA, with two fixtures and a late match remaining between now and the end of the season in the top flight, a total of 13 fixtures.

The Barclays Women's Super League had already broken its single-season total attendance record with 717,721 spectators present in English stadiums after 96 matches in the 2023-24 season, on 18/03/2024. The previous record dates back to the 2022-23 season, when 689,297 spectators attended all 132 matches played (with 36 extra games).
