FIFA: Dutchman Michael van Praag, "very concerned for FIFA," will stand for the presidency

Michael van Praag, chairman of the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association), announced his candidacy for the presidency of FIFA on 26/01/2015.

"It’s widely known that I’m very worried about FIFA," said Michael van Praag, at the announcement of his candidacy.

""(On 27/01/2015), his official candidacy letter, accompanied by the required five declarations of support from national associations backing Mr. van Praag’s candidacy, will be sent to FIFA headquarters in Zurich," stated the KNVB on 26/01/2015.

• Michael van Praag "will explain his decision" at a press conference at the Olympic Stadium (NED), on 28/01/2015.
• The deadline to file a candidacy is 29/01/2015, four months to the day before the election which will be held during the FIFA Congress in Zurich (SUI) on 29/05/2015.
• Applicants must be officially supported by at least five of the 209 national federations affiliated to FIFA and prove that they been active in football as a player or official for at least two of the last five years.
