2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Ipswich Town promoted to the Premier League for 1^st time in 22 years

Ipswich Town FC, second in the Sky Bet Championship 2023-24 with a six-point lead over third-placed Leeds United FC at the end of the 46^th and final matchday of the season, have been promoted to the Premier League without having to pass through the play-offs, following their victory over Huddersfield Town AFC (2-0) combined with Leeds' defeat by Southampton FC (1-2) on Saturday 04/05/2024.

Leicester City FC, 2023-24 Sky Bet Championship champions, had already secured promotion to the top flight on Saturday 27/04/2024.

Ipswich Town had not competed in the English top flight since the end of the 2001-02 season and are now making their return to the top flight after 22 seasons. The club is 50% owned by the American investment fund ORG, while another American fund, Bright Path Sports, acquired a 40% stake in Ipswich in March 2024.

The English club, whose equipment supplier is the British brand Umbro, had 1.22 million fans on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X) on 06/05/2024.
