Premier League: Everton withdraws appeal and accepts 2-point deduction for breaking financial rules

Everton FC, sanctioned with a two-point deduction from the 2023-24 Premier League standings with immediate effect for breaching the League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules on 08/04/2024, announced that it was reversing its decision to appeal on 10/05/2024.

This sanction had been handed down by an independent commission of the English League, which interviewed the Merseyside (ENG) club in March 2024. The Premier League, noting that Everton had breached Article E.49 of its regulations at the end of the 2022-23 season, which limits clubs' financial losses over a period of three financial years to £105m (€119.3m), had announced the launch of proceedings on 15/01/2024. Everton's accumulated losses over the period stood at £121.6m (€141m), according to the commission.

This was the second points withdrawal recorded by Everton in 2023-24.
