Tennis/Wimbledon: a turnover of £380.156m in 2023 for the AELTC, an increase of 9.6%

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), organiser of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament, posted a turnover of £380.156m (€443m) in the 2023 financial year ending 31/07/2023, up 9.6% on 2022 (£346.64m/€412.7m), according to the accounts filed with Companies House on 24/04/2024.

The AELTC posted an operating profit of £53.776m (€62.6m), up 14.2% on 2022 (£47m/€56m). Under the terms of the contract between the AELTC and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) until 2053, 90% of this amount, i.e. £48.75m (€56.8m), is paid to the LTA. This brings the AELTC's net profit to £5.735m (€6.68m), three times higher than in 2022 (£1.867m/€2.2m).

Revenues from media rights amounted to more than £200m (€233m), representing over 52% of the AELTC's total turnover, according to The Times on 07/05/2024. This revenue segment was driven by the partnership between the organisation and the public broadcasting group BBC, which broadcasts Wimbledon until 2027 in return for £70m per year (€81m).
