FIFA Women's Club World Cup: a first edition with 16 teams from January to February 2026

"It was proposed that the inaugural edition of the FIFA Women's Club World Cup be contested by 16 teams in January-February 2026. The tournament will be held every four years. Further details will follow in due course," announced FIFA during the end of the 28^th Council meeting in Bangkok (Thailand) on 15/05/2024, ahead of the world governing body's 74^th Congress scheduled to take place in the same city on Friday 17/05/2024.

The FIFA Council also unanimously adopted the 2026-2029 international match calendar for women's football: "The Women's International Match Calendar (WIMC) 2026-2029 is the result of a consultation process which has been underpinned by extensive research and analysis in coordination with the confederations and other stakeholders," said the international federation.
