FIFA TMS: 13,090 international transfers in 2014 (+2.9%) for $4.06bn (+2.1%)

13,090 international transfers (from one national association to another) were recorded by FIFA TMS during the 2014 calendar year, 2.9% more than in 2013 (12,718 transfers), revealed the fourth annual Global Transfer Market Report of the Swiss organisation, issued on 28/01/2015. FIFA TMS is a subsidiary of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), and was founded in 2007 and manages the ITMS (International Transfer Matching System), which was made mandatory for registering international transfers in October 2010.

Total reported transfer fees amounted to $4.06bn in 2014 (€3.37bn on 31/12/2014), up 2.1% compared to 2013 ($3.98bn, €2.9bn at the time). "[This] marks the first time the total transfer compensation value has surpassed the USD 4 billion mark in a calendar year," said FIFA on 28/01/2015.
