IOC: Toyota (car manufacturer) will not renew its partnership after the Paris 2024 Games (press)

The Japanese car manufacturer Toyota will not renew its global partnership with the Olympic and Paralympic Movement (IOC and IPC) when its current contract comes to an end after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, according to the Japanese media Kyodo on 24/05/2024. In 2015, the Toyota-based group (Aichi prefecture) was the first car manufacturer to become a "mobility partner" of the IOC.

Toyota initially sought to extend its partnership with the IPC for the Paralympic Games after the Paris 2024 Games, but the sponsorship programme supported by the IOC does not allow partnerships for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to be separated.

Since the beginning of this partnership, the Japanese group has paid "more than ¥100bn (more than €585m)", according to sources quoted by Kyodo. "Toyota plans to continue to support athletes and promote sport in its own way," added the Japanese media.
