FIFA/UEFA: "The Commercial Court of Madrid, as the CJEU, does not endorse the Super League" (LALIGA)

"LALIGA has today received the ruling from the Commercial Court of Madrid, which, in line with the ECJ (European Court of Justice) ruling, does not endorse the European Super League, insists that this procedure does not pass judgement on the abandoned Super League project and acknowledges UEFA's modifications to its competition authorization regulations," announced the Spanish League on 27/05/2024.

The Spanish body is reacting to the publication, on the same day, of the Madrid court's decision to "partially uphold the action brought by the European Super League Company S.L. (ESLC) against UEFA and FIFA and find that both bodies have abused their dominant position and prevented free competition in the market by granting themselves the discretionary power to prohibit participation in alternative competitions and to impose unjustified and disproportionate restrictions that infringe articles 101 and 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU)."
