"It is not a matter of Qatar wanting to bid for the Olympics or not. But it is a time when Qatar has to decide when to go for it. We don’t know if we are going to bid for ‘24, but bidding for the Olympics it will be, I mean, either ’24, ’28 or ’32," said Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, president of QOC (Qatar Olympic Committee) on 27/01/2015.

The host city of the 2024 Olympic Games will be selected by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) in September 2017. The submission of applications to the IOC must be made no later than 15/09/2015.

Doha, the capital city of Qatar, was a candidate for the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games, but was not included in shortlist of candidates by the IOC, largely because of its high temperatures in July and August, the months in which the Olympic games are normally be held.
