Barclays WSL: Chelsea FC seeks minority investor for its women's team

"There is a strong desire for an opportunity to invest solely into the women’s game to specifically support women’s football and benefit from the growth in the women’s game.BDT & MSD Partners, a global merchant bank, has been engaged as financial advisor on a potential minority investment in the club, inclusive of evaluating inbound interest related to Chelsea Women (Barclays Women's Super League)," announced Chelsea FC (Premier League) on 29/05/2024.

The London club's search for an investor is part of the unveiling of its "long-term strategic plan to accelerate the growth of Chelsea Women and cement its position as a leading force within the Barclays Women’s Super League." However, as pointed out by the club, "any prospective investor into a WSL team is currently required to invest through a men’s team."
