UK: sublicensing agreement between Sky and ITV for the Carabao Cup and the Championship (2025-2027)

The British free-to-air television group ITV has acquired, under a sublicensing agreement with the pay-TV operator Sky, the free-to-air broadcasting rights to the Carabao Cup and the Sky Bet Championship over the 2025-2027 cycle in the United Kingdom, announced the English Football League on 30/05/2024.

As part of this agreement, ITV will broadcast :
• the 2024-25 Carabao Cup semi-finals and final;
• at least 9 matches from the competition per season (one match from each of the first four rounds, an additional match from the third or fourth round, two quarter-finals, one semi-final and the final) in the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons;
• 5 Sky Bet Championship matches in 2024-25 (from January 2025);
• 10 Championship matches "with the option to flex the selection to matches from Sky Bet League One or Sky Bet League Two" in 2025-26 and 2026-27.

These matches will also be broadcast on Sky Sports, which has extended its broadcasting rights to the EFL competitions (Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One, Sky Bet League Two, Carabao Cup and Bristol Street Motors Trophy) over the 2024-2029 cycle…
