Tennis: Portia Archer, COO of the NBA G League, appointed CEO of the WTA from 29/07/2024

Portia Archer has been appointed CEO of the Women’s Tennis Association on 06/06/2024. She will take up her role on 29/07/2024. "As CEO, Archer will lead the day-to-day strategy and operations of the Hologic WTA Tour and the WTA's relationship with its player and tournament members," explained the WTA.

The American has held the position of chief operating officer (COO) of the NBA G League since 2020 and "was responsible for overseeing all business and commercial operations for the NBA's development league, driving expansion as well as significant increases in fan engagement and commercial performance," said the WTA. Archer also held a number of positions with British (BBC) and American (HBO and NBCUniversal) media groups between 2004 and 2020.
