Premier League clubs have voted in favour of maintaining the use of VAR in the English top flight (19 votes in favour, 1 against) for the 2024-25 season during the League's annual general meeting on 06/06/2024, announced the Premier League the same day.

Only Wolverhampton Wanderers FC voted against the use of video assistant referees in 2024-25, while 14 votes were required for its abolition. The vote came after the English club expressed its desire to abolish VAR in the Premier League on 15/05/2024. "All stakeholders have been working hard to try to make the introduction of additional technology a success. However, after five seasons of VAR in the Premier League it is time for a constructive and critical debate on its future. Our position is that the price we are paying for a small increase in accuracy is at odds with the spirit of our game, and as a result we should remove it from the 2024-25 season onwards," said Wolves at the time.
