European Top 5 attendance: an average of 32,965 spectators per match & fill rate of 88.9% in 2023-24

The 98 clubs that competed in the European Top 5 leagues during the 2023-24 season posted an average attendance of 32,965 spectators per match, up 1.1% from 2022-23 (32,597 per match). The average stadium fill rate reached 88.92% in 2023-24, compared with 86.48% in 2022-23.

The French league experience the biggest increase in average attendance compared with 2022-23 (+14%), with a record average of 27,113 spectators for Ligue 1. The European Top 5 continues to be dominated by the Bundesliga (39,502, -8%) and the Premier League (38,623, -4.2%). Next is the Serie A TIM (30,685, +4.4%), LALIGA EA Sports (29,086, -1.6%), and finally Ligue 1.

In terms of stadium fill rates, the Premier League leads the way (97.6%), ahead of the Bundesliga (96.2%), Ligue 1 Uber Eats (84.3%), LALIGA EA Sports (82.2%) and Serie A TIM (81.1%).

With 81,305 spectators per game at Signal Iduna Park (81,365 capacity), Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) was the club that posted the best average attendance this season, ahead of FC Bayern Munich (75,000) and Manchester United FC (73,534).
