Cameroon: FECAFOOT threatens internationals with sanctions if they do not support the Federation

"Summoned players are placed exclusively at the disposal of FECAFOOT, the sole contact for international bodies (FIFA and CAF) and your employing club. The Federation will no longer tolerate any violation or non-respect of the players' obligations during the period of availability," wrote Blaise Djounang, general secretary of the Cameroonian Football Federation, in a letter sent to each of the national team players on 09/06/2024.

This warning is yet another episode in the conflict between the Cameroonian Football Federation, chaired by former striker Samuel Eto'o, and Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, Cameroon's Minister of Sport and Physical Education. This opposition crystallised around national coach Marc Brys, who succeeded Rigobert Song: the Belgian technician was appointed by Narcisse Mouelle Kombi on 02/04 on the "instructions of the President of the Republic" Paul Biya, but his appointment was described as "illegal" by FECAFOOT on 04/04/2024.
