FIFPro: "A declaration of war (from) the ECA and the EPFL" (Philippe Piat, president)

"The startling proposals of the ECA (European Club Association) and the EPFL (Union of European Professional Football Leagues) constitute a declaration of war," said Philippe Piat, president of FIFPro (International Federation of Professional Footballers), to News Tank on 30/01/2015.

The ECA and the EPFL have not accepted the proposals from FIFPro on the reform of the transfer system, which resulted in halting the ongoing negotiations about the transfer system at FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) headquarters. Convening on 28/01/2015 for special meeting in Athens (GRE), FIFPro Europe, the European branch of the International Players' Union, received the unanimous support of its members "to cease all negotiations, until the central principles to protect the players' rights under their contract are accepted by the employers," announced FIFPro on 30/01/2015.
