Paris 2024: "History, tradition & modernity, ingredients for a brilliant Games" (T. Bach, IOC)

"Sport needs to become more urban, because that's where people are. The Place de la Concorde, Trocadero and the Champ de Mars are extraordinary examples of this. Paris combines history, tradition and modernity: all the ingredients are there for a brilliant Games," said Thomas Bach, president of the IOC in an interview with Eurosport recorded at the end of May 2024 and broadcast on Eurosport 1 on Wednesday 12/06/2024 (in the French programme "Mon Paris Olympique" from 20:45 CET), 44 days before the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

"I saw the Place de la Concorde three weeks ago. I received photos of an IOC team in Paris. It gives me goosebumps to see that, and it makes me want to be there even more, because it reflects perfectly what we want with the Olympic agenda," added the president of the International Olympic Committee.
