"Very attached to freedom of expression and citizenship, the Fédération Française de Football is joining in the necessary call to go and vote, which is a democratic requirement. It also wants everyone to understand and respect its neutrality as an institution, as well as that of the national team for which it is responsible. In this respect, it is important to avoid any form of pressure and political use of the French national team," stated the FFF in a press release published on the evening of 15/06/2024.

The Federation's announcement comes at a time when, since 09/06/2024, French national team players present during press conferences have been regularly questioned about the political situation in France, which was marked by the Rassemblement National (RN, National Rally, until 2018 known as the National Front, far-right) coming out on top in the European elections (with 31.47% of the votes cast), prompting Emmanuel Macron to dissolve the National Assembly and consequently hold early parliamentary elections on 30/06 and 07/07/2024.
