Cycling: 2026 Tour de France to begin in Barcelona for the 3^rd Grand Départ in Spain

The Grand Départ of the 2026 Tour de France will be held in Barcelona (ESP) on 04/07/2026, announced Amaury Sport Organisation, organisers of the cycling event, on 18/06/2024.

The first two stages of this 113^th edition of the Grande Boucle will therefore take place in Catalonia, on 04 and 05/07/2026. The third stage will also start in north-east Spain and reach France on 06/07/2026. The finish of this stage has not yet been announced. The Tour de France has already passed through Barcelona seven times (the start-finish city three times in 1957, twice in 1965 and twice in 2009).

"The Grande Boucle will share a momentous occasion with the people of Barcelona, as the Sagrada Família (a basilica whose construction began in 1892) is slated to finally reach completion in 2026," said ASO.

The 2026 Tour de France thus becomes the third edition to start from Spain, following two Grand Départs from the Basque Country in 1992 (San Sebastian) and 2023 (Bilbao).
