French Senate/LFP-CVC deal: "The business plan is ambitious but has not yet failed" (J-M. Aulas)

"The business plan (between LFP and CVC Capital Partners), which is ambitious, has not yet failed. CVC surely also has ideas to ensure that it succeeds. The cards haven't been dealt," said Jean-Michel Aulas, vice-president of the Fédération Française de Football and former president of Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1), in a speech before the French Senate on 20/06/2024.

Aulas spoke during a round-table discussion organised as part of the fact-finding mission on the involvement of investment funds in French professional football, chaired by Laurent Lafon (Union Centriste, Val-de-Marne) and whose rapporteur is Michel Savin (LR, Isère).

Jean-Pierre Caillot, president of Stade de Reims (Ligue 1), Joseph Oughourlian, president of RC Lens (Ligue 1), Olivier Létang, president and CEO of LOSC Lille (Ligue 1) and Maarten Petermann, representative of the Merlyn Partners fund, owner of the Lille club, were also present to answer senators' questions.
