Piracy: 14 raids carried out in Italy against IPTV services broadcasting Euro 2024

"The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), organiser and owner of Euro 2024, welcomes the anti-piracy operation conducted by the Guardia di Finanza (Italian customs and financial police) in Italy, coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office, following a report submitted by Sky Italia (pay-TV)," said the European body on 21/06/2024.

This operation, organised on 20/06/2024, led to 14 searches of 13 suspects in Italy. The Guardia di Finanza blocked access to illegal IPTV services broadcasting Euro 2024 matches. These illegal broadcasts benefited nearly 1.3 million users, according to UEFA.

"Financial revenue generated from media rights is vital for the well-being of football at all levels. Therefore, the fight against online piracy of our competitions is of utmost importance and the contribution of our media partners is crucial in combatting what is a shared problem," added the European confederation.
