"FIFA’s (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) member associations have proposed four candidates for the presidential elections to take place in Zurich on 29/05/2015. The Ad-hoc Electoral Committee will now assess the proposed candidatures of Joseph S. Blatter, HRH (His Royal Highness) Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Luis Figo and Michael van Praag," announced FIFA on 02/02/2015.

The deadline for submitting applications was 29/01/2015, four months before the election to be held at the annual FIFA Congress in Zurich on 29/05/2015 (SUI).

Four proposed candidates for the FIFA presidency by member associations

  • Joseph Blatter (SUI), 78 years old, FIFA president since 1998, announced he would stand for a fifth term on 26/09/2014.
    • Announced he had filed all necessary paperwork to stand in the election on 29/01/2015.
  • (Prince) Ali Bin Al Hussein (JOR), 39 years old, president of the Jordanian Federation, vice-president of the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) and vice-president of FIFA, declared his candidacy for the FIFA presidency on 06/01/2015.
