Liga BBVA: stadium of Celta Vigo to be renovated for €30 million, expected delivery in 2017

RC Celta de Vigo (Liga BBVA) and the Vigo City Council (ESP) have finalised the funding agreement for the renovation of the Estadio Municipal de Balaídos (31,800 seats) on 23/01/2015. Work will began on the structure in mid-February 2015.

The cost of the renovation of the stadium, which belongs to the municipality of Vigo, is €29.7m, one-third of which will be funded by the City. The project includes extending the tribunes to reach the pitch and the installation of a roof to cover all of the seating areas. The capacity of the infrastructure will be reduced to 31,000 seats. Work will be performed in several installments to allow the club to continue to play inside the stadium. The delivery of the renovated structure is scheduled for the first quarter 2017.

"For every euro invested in this stadium, Celta de Vigo gives back in one hundred to the City," stated Abel Caballero, the mayor of Vigo.
