Deloitte: record revenues of €35.3bn for European football in 2022-23 (+16%)

The European football market saw a 16% increase in turnover to a record €35.3bn in the 2022-23 season (€30.4bn in 2021-22), with growth boosted by the 2022 FIFA World Cup, said the 2024 edition of the "Annual Football Finance Review" published by the Sports Business Group at Deloitte, the UK-based audit and consultancy firm, on 25/06/2024 (document available to download).

The €35.3bn in the European market breaks down as follows:
• 56% (€19.6bn) for the top divisions in the Top 5 countries (Bundesliga, LALIGA EA Sports, Ligue 1, Premier League and Serie A TIM);
• 19% (€6.8bn) for the top divisions in countries outside the Top 5;
• 14% (€4.9bn) for FIFA, UEFA and national federations combined;
• 9% (€3.2bn) for the lower leagues in the European Top 5;
• 2% (€0.8bn) for the lower leagues in countries outside the Top 5.

Among the Top 5 leagues, the Bundesliga and Serie A have posted the strongest growth in average revenues between 2021-22 and 2022-23, with a 22% increase, ahead of the Premier League with an 11% growth in average club revenues.
