UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) announced the appointment of four players -- Camille Abily (FRA, Olympique Lyonnais), Laura Georges (FRA, Paris Saint-Germain), Veronica Boquete (ESP, 1. FFC Frankfurt) and Lotta Schelin (SWE, Olympique Lyonnais) -- as "ambassadors for the development of women's football" during an official presentation at the headquarters of the FFF (French Football Federation) in Paris on 02/02/2015.

"The ambassadors will participate in various UEFA-sponsored development tournaments and events across UEFA's member associations to impart their knowledge and experience to young players, in order to best equip them with the tools to develop as footballers," stated the European confederation.

  • The ambassador position for the development of women's football has, up until now, been occupied only by the former German international Steffi Jones (centre of the photo).
