NBA/USA: 4.41 million viewers for the first round of the 2024 Draft on ABC and ESPN

The first round of the "2024 NBA Draft presented by State Farm" drew an average of 4.41 million viewers, with a peak of 5.5 million on the pay-TV channel ESPN and the free-TV channel ABC (part of the American TV group ESPN, owned by The Walt Disney Company) in the United States on Wednesday 26/06/2024 (start time 20:30 ET, 02:00 CET), according to data from the American institute Nielsen.

This represents a 11% decrease compared to the audience for the first round of the 2023 draft, also broadcast on ABC and ESPN (4.93 million). The most-watched draft in US history saw Frenchman Victor Wembanyma (aged 19 at the time, 2.21 metres) selected first overall by the San Antonio Spurs, becoming the first French basketball player to be No. 1 in an NBA draft. The NBA Draft 2024 was organised over two days for the first time, with the second round taking place on Thursday 27/06/2024.

In the first round of this draft, Frenchmen Zaccharie Risacher (19, 2.07 metres) and Alexandre Sarr (19, 2.13 metres) were selected first and second respectively by the Atlanta Hawks and the Washington Wizards.
