LFP: the French men's first division to be called "Ligue 1 McDonald's" over the 2024-2027 cycle

"Ligue 1 McDonald's" is the new name of the French men's first division on the Ligue de Football Professionnel's official website and social media channels since 02/07/2024. This change is part of the agreement signed between the LFP and the French subsidiary of the American fast-food chain McDonald's on 21/03/2024.

The French league's logo now features McDonald's yellow "M" preceded by the words Ligue 1, in accordance with the new brand identity unveiled by the LFP on 27/03/2024 (designed by the agency Leroy Tremblot). The naming agreement also covers the Trophée des Champions and the eLigue 1, the LFP's official esports competition, according to information from News Tank.

The agreement is worth an estimated €30m per season and covers the 2024-2027 rights cycle, totalling €90m over three seasons. This amount is equivalent to that paid by EA Sports (video game publisher) to LALIGA to give its name to the two Spanish professional divisions (LALIGA EA Sports, LALIGA Hypermotion) from 2023-24.
