Neymar Case: Josep Bartomeu, the president of FC Barcelona, is set for tax fraud investigation

An investigation was opened in to Josep Maria Bartomeu, the president of FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA), for alleged tax evasion in the case of the transfer of the Brazilian player Neymar, on 03/02/2015. He has been summoned to give evidence before the National Court in Madrid (the Spanish high court), convened by the judge Pablo Ruz on 03/02/2015.

The Neymar case, which saw FC Barcelona and its former president Sandro Rosell indicted for tax evasion on 03/06/2014, is still ongoing. On 02/02/2015, the public prosecutor asked for Josep Maria Bartomeu to be put under investigation for alleged tax offenses of €2.8m for the 2014 financial year with regards to a payment of €5m made to the Brazilian player.
