Club Atlético de Madrid: first stone laid for the Ciudad del Deporte project (€300m)

José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid (Spain), Enrique Cerezo, president of Club Atlético de Madrid (LALIGA EA Sports) and Miguel Ángel Gil, the club's CEO, took part in the ceremony to lay the first stone for the public-private "Ciudad del Deporte" urban development project on 02/07/2024.

The work, which is due to be completed in the summer of 2026, represents a total investment of €300m, mainly borne by the club, the breakdown of which has not, however, been communicated as of 03/07/2024. The project, covering a total surface area of 265,000 square metres, is located on the outskirts of the Civitas Metropolitano.

It will include both facilities for the residents of the city of Madrid (an athletics track, two 11-a-side football pitches, four multi-sports pitches and four padel courts) and areas reserved for the club, including a training centre for the various sections, a performance building, a mini stadium and several pitches.
