England: Vinci Stadium will be the operator of the Olympic Stadium in London for 25 years

Vinci Stadium, a subsidiary of Vinci Concessions which specialises in the operation of sports venues, has been appointed operator of the Olympic Stadium in London (capacity 54,000) for the 2015-2025 period, announced Vinci on 03/02/2015.

The tender was issued by E20 Stadium LLP, a joint venture between the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC, the body responsible for the conversion of the stadium used during the 2012 Olympic Games in London) and Newham borough council. The French company was reportedly chosen over the American promoter of sporting and entertainment events AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group). Vinci has created the organisation "London Stadium 185" (185 British athletes won medals in the 2012 Olympics) to operate the enclosure.

The contract includes the operation, maintenance and upkeep of the stadium, and can be extended to include part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which surrounds the stadium, during some events.
