Premier League/social networks: 22 million additional followers for Manchester City in 2023-24

The 20 clubs involved in the 2023-24 Premier League season had a total of approximately 944 million fans on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and X on 01/07/2024, 102.3 million more than on 01/08/2023, according to data compiled by News Tank Football. The Premier League has an average of 47.2 million followers per club.

Manchester United FC is the most followed club in the English top flight with 210.8 million followers, ahead of Manchester City FC, the second most popular club with 148.5 million followers. Chelsea FC complete the podium with 138.6 million followers.

Manchester City, 2023-24 English champions, recorded the biggest increase in absolute terms, with 22.1 million additional followers (+17.5%) over the season. They are ahead of Liverpool FC, whose fan base increased by 16 million (+13.2%) between August 2023 and July 2024.

In relative terms, the biggest growth was recorded by promoted club Luton Town FC (who were relegated at the end of the 2023-24 season), with an increase of 81.9% since 01/08/2023, followed by Brighton & Hove Albion FC (+61.2%) and Brentford FC (+37.8%).
